Al Noor Center for the Blind has launched a six-month community initiative to increase understanding of visual disabilities and encourage wider participation in everyday life.

Developed with Qatar Media Corporation, the programme brings together public awareness activities, interactive experiences and digital content, Qatar News Agency reported on 5 October.

October activities will focus on independence, followed by children, families and educational visits in November. December will highlight participation and individual capabilities, while January’s programme will explore Braille and access to learning. Further activities are planned for February and March.

The centre says it wants schools, service providers, cultural organisations and other community institutions to help improve accessibility and challenge stereotypes.

The initiative also aims to build partnerships that continue beyond its scheduled events, with an emphasis on recognising people’s abilities and achievements.
