Mission-patch design and a look at life as an astronaut are part of Sharjah’s World Space Week programme, running from 4 to 10 October at the University of Sharjah’s Space and Astronomy Hub.

According to Emirates News Agency, the programme explores the development of rockets and space missions through lectures, demonstrations and practical activities under the theme “The Rocket Revolution”.

Activities include tracing rocket history and a Sharjah Planetarium presentation on how rocket technology has evolved. Lectures also examine the UAE’s relationship with space and the wider value of exploration.

The hub said the mix of theory and practical learning is intended to nurture scientific curiosity, particularly among younger generations, and encourage interest in space-related careers.

Acting planetarium director Fatima Mohammed Al Khatri said interactive experiences help make scientific ideas easier to understand and bring astronomy closer to the public.
