Four investors signed lease agreements for new recycling projects in Qatar on 6 October, moving proposed ventures a step closer to development, according to Qatar News Agency.
The agreements were signed at the sixth Recycling Towards Sustainability Conference and Exhibition in Doha. The investors are among nine selected through opportunities offered by the Ministry of Municipality in 2025, with land designated for the projects.
The two-day event brings public bodies, businesses and researchers together to explore recycling technology and the circular economy, including ways to keep materials in use for longer.
Speaking at the opening, Minister of Municipality Abdullah bin Hamad bin Abdullah Al Attiyah said Qatar diverted 45 percent of municipal solid waste from landfills in 2025. That figure measures landfill diversion, rather than recycling alone.
The ministry said the new leases would strengthen private-sector participation and help expand recycling industries as Qatar develops a more integrated waste-management system.
